Hyderabad: AIG Hospitals has announced a groundbreaking step in cancer treatment with the acquisition of the ProteusONE Proton Therapy System, featuring DynamicARC technology from Belgium-based Ion Beam Applications (IBA). This marks the first installation of this advanced system in Southeast Asia, solidifying AIG’s position as a leader in oncology care.

Proton Beam Therapy, regarded as the most precise form of radiation therapy, targets tumors with exceptional accuracy while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues. This makes it particularly effective for treating complex cancers, especially in children and cases where tumors are located near critical organs.

The advanced DynamicARC technology enables even greater precision, representing a game-changer in radiation oncology. With this development, AIG Hospitals aims to offer world-class cancer treatment on par with global standards.

Speaking about the milestone, Dr D Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman of AIG Hospitals, said, “Our mission is to place patients at the core of everything we do. The addition of the Proton Beam Therapy System and our partnership with IBA underscore our commitment to bringing cutting-edge, compassionate cancer care to India.” He also revealed that the system will be housed within AIG’s upcoming 300-bed Oncology Centre on the Gachibowli campus.

The new facility represents an investment of Rs800 crores and will be the third Proton Therapy Centre in India, as well as the first in the Telugu-speaking states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
